This is an image out of the archives. I'm still down in Huntsville, AL testing new software for work and it's been lousy weather outside so I've not taken so much as a quick snapshot in the last week. Today I'm taking an extended lunch to get out in the sunny mid 50's weather to try to get a couple of 'bama birds. I should easily be able to find at least a mockingbird...

Made public because of the comments it received in the smaller size. Unfortunately, I did not get this as sharp as I would like so that's why it wasn't the primary picture in the series in which I included it. Still, a pretty cool pose even though it's pretty soft.

These are not the best RTH pics I've ever taken but these are also from the "always take your camera" bin. This time of year there are tons of raptors around the Chicago 'burbs and redtails are by far the most plentiful. I saw this one while I was out on an errand and, for once, the bird I was after flew closer to me rather than farther away. I didn't get much of a chance with this one before it split and the images are not as sharp as I would like but I'm happy I 'em, nonetheless.

UGH.

These two are leaving for Colorado on Tuesday and I hate it so much I might just throw my body in front of their car in the hopes that it makes them change their minds.

Well, it probably will, but not about leaving. About their sister-in-law.

We've known for eons that they were moving - they bought a house months ago - but we never really gave much thought to what it's going to be like without them around. In a word, it's going to suck. Luckily for us, they'll be around often enough and they do now own a house in the mountains in Colorado so at least it's not like we have to go visit them somewhere lame. I mean, if they have to leave us, at least it's for someplace worth vacationing.

Bon voyage, you guys. We love you and we'll miss you.
